Carroll Buck Fuller
Seale-Round Prairie VFD
After high school, Buck completed a four-year apprenticeship with Newport News Shipbuilding, where he served as student body president and cheerleader sponsor. Following his move to Texas, he earned a business degree from Wayland Baptist University. His career was dedicated to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, where he worked as an accountant and retired as Director of Compliance after 39 years. In retirement, he continued with auditing and legal consulting while finding new passions in ranching and traveling.
Buck's greatest devotion was to his beloved wife, Yvonne, and his family. They were married on April Fool’s Day in 1972 at Halfway Baptist Church and remained an inseparable couple for 52 years. Buck's love for his family was paramount, and he always credited God for his many blessings.
His faith was a guiding light throughout his life. Buck was a dedicated member of Central Baptist Church in Thornton, where he served on various committees. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Fishes and Loaves food bank in Groesbeck, where he was affectionately known as “the peanut butter man.” In addition, he joined the Seale-Round Prairie Volunteer Fire Department in 2022 and was elected as a board member in January 2023.
To know Buck was to love him. His infectious sense of humor and warmth made everyone feel special. He never met a stranger and formed new friendships wherever he went. Buck will be remembered for his compassion and the many ways he cared for his friends and family.
He enjoyed playing cards and board games, often with a knack for winning. He also loved water activities, boat rides, and showcasing his famous backward trick skiing skills.
Buck will be deeply missed by many but is now rejoicing in Heaven with those who went before him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eunice and Howard Fuller; Yvonne’s parents, Clyde and Wilma Emberton; and brother-in-law, Bill Wheeler.
